Small checks, safer home.

10 years

Get your wiring checked

Guidance for owner-occupied homes is an inspection at least every ten years, and when you move in.

30mA

Check for RCD protection

A 30mA RCD cuts the power in a fraction of a second if current leaks. Press its test button and it should trip.

One extension lead per socket

Never plug one lead into another, and keep heaters on a wall socket of their own.

A smoke alarm on every floor

At least one on each storey you live on. In rented homes it is the law.

Watch for warm or marked sockets

Scorch marks, a burning smell or a warm socket can mean a loose connection. Switch off and call us.

Questions we get asked.

Straight answers on prices, paperwork and timings. Anything else, just call.

Call 01632 960418
How quickly can you come out in an emergency?

Day or night, usually within a few hours. Call 01632 960418 first, and if the whole street has lost power, call 105, the free national power cut helpline.

Will I know the price before you start?

Yes. Planned work gets a fixed written quote after a free visit, and for faults we agree the cost with you before any repair starts, so there are no surprises on the invoice.

What paperwork do I get?

The right electrical certificate for every job, and we notify building control for work that needs it, such as a new fuse box. You keep the records your insurer and buyers will ask for.

Can you manage EICRs for all my rental properties?

Yes. We track each property's due date, remind you before it runs out, arrange access with your tenants or agent and send reports ready to share. Any repairs are quoted straight away so you meet the 28-day deadline.

Can you test our office or shop without disrupting staff?

Yes. We test early, late or at weekends, PAT test equipment on site with a pass label on each item, and give you a full register for your records and insurer.

Can we stay at home during a rewire?

Usually, yes. We work room by room, leave you working lights and sockets each evening and clean up as we go. A three-bedroom house typically takes 5 to 10 working days.

Can you fit an EV charger at my home?

Yes. We check your supply and fuse box can take the extra load, fit the charger where the cable reaches your car and notify your electricity network operator for you.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover East Herts and West Essex, including Bishop's Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Hertford, Ware, Much Hadham, Hoddesdon, Harlow, Epping and Stansted Mountfitchet.

Lights out?

No power, a switch that will not reset or a socket that smells of burning. Call us, day or night, and we will tell you what to do next.

01632 960418
  1. A switch keeps tripping. Do not keep resetting it. Call us.
  2. Burning smell, sparks or a hot socket. Turn off at the main switch, then call us.
  3. Exposed or damaged wiring. Keep everyone clear and call us.
  4. Part of the house is off. We find the fault and get it back on.

Whole street off too? That is a fault on the local electricity network, not your wiring. Call 105, the free national power cut helpline.

Tell us what is going on and we will call you back to arrange a time.
